En los últimos años se han dado importantes pasos en torno al desarrollo del Capital Privado en Uruguay, con un impacto positivo en el ecosistema emprendedor y de innovación.
Entre diversos hitos destacan: la fundación de URUCAP, el traslado a Uruguay de varios founders tecnológicos y de VC de la región (principalmente argentinos), la mayor interacción de inversores ángeles, el lanzamiento de Matching Funds (un instrumento que tiene como objetivo apalancar la inversión privada de riesgo) y de la Cartera de Proyectos de Inversión de Uruguay XXI.
Con el objetivo de contribuir a la atracción de inversión extranjera directa, Uruguay XXI crea un servicio diseñado para conectar startups, empresas maduras y proyectos tanto públicos como privados con inversores o Fondos interesados en oportunidades de inversión en Uruguay.
En el caso de las startups y emprendimientos, estos deben estar en búsqueda de una inversión mínima de 200.000 dólares.

La Agencia Nacional de Investigación e Innovación (ANII), es la entidad gubernamental que promueve la investigación y la innovación en el ámbito productivo y social del país. La Agencia Nacional de Desarrollo (ANDE) promueve el desarrollo del país por medio de programas que buscan mejorar la competitividad empresarial y territorial, con foco en las micro, pequeñas y medianas empresas. Su programa Semilla, es un fondo no reembolsable que busca poner en marcha o fortalecer emprendimientos, productos, servicios, procesos y/o formas de comercialización que tengan valor diferencial, potencial de crecimiento dinámico, generación de empleo.
